On a snowy night, six-year-old Junie Hayes is struggling to survive on the streets when she accidentally runs into a wealthy man she has never met—Griffin Kingsley, the director of a hospital and her biological father. A necklace, a token of the past, unveils a buried story: Griffin is the former lover whom her mother, Wren Hayes, once cruelly left in order to protect his future. By now, Wren is suffering from leukemia and is near death, so she entrusts her daughter to find her biological father. After a paternity test confirms their blood relation, Griffin, despite all kinds of obstruction from Camille Wexler—the hospital's vice director, who calls herself his "fiancée"—insists on finding Wren, and the family reunites at Ashcombe Manor. However, Camille turns villainous, tracking them and disguising herself as a kidnapper. She first secretly swaps and hides Wren, then disguises herself as a homeless person and abducts Junie, pressing step by step and pushing this newly reunited family to the edge of life and death again and again. Several times Wren wants to leave quietly so as not to drag Griffin down, but Griffin always keeps her by his side with deep affection and persistence; the trust and protection between father and daughter, mother and daughter, and husband and wife are repeatedly tested and repeatedly proven in crisis after crisis. Camille pushes the three to a dead end with a fifty-million ransom and an "apple shooting game." To protect his wife and daughter, Griffin seizes the gun with his bare hands but is shot again and left severely injured and unconscious. He then uses "playing dead" to test Wren's true heart—that she will "never leave." After the truth is revealed, the family sees through all the lies and reconciles. At a grand wedding, they exchange vows, and Wren formally becomes Griffin's wife—"Mrs. Kingsley"—and the family of three is finally reunited in complete happiness.
