But Mason, in collusion with Beatrice Harmon, humiliates her by turning the engagement into a mock funeral. Laura exposes him, leading to a family rift and Mason’s destruction of Phoenix Perch. 5 years later, after a car accident, Laura wakes up with amnesia and is tormented by Mason. But Eddie Sherman, her unwavering protector, never leaves her side. As Laura regains her memories, she uncovers Mason's dark plot, finally uniting with Eddie for a love-filled and triumphant future.
