Metaphysics streamer Jiang Chen is warned by Mo Yu that his wife Mingzhu is not human. Skeptical at first, he wavers as Mo Yu’s words prove true. Given a pouch to test her, he hurts Mingzhu with it—she spits out a pearl, making him suspicious. Mo Yu fails to expose her true form, so Jiang Chen calls him a fraud. Mingzhu takes him to her hometown, where he meets Mo Yu’s sister Mo Yu and mysterious Chen Liu, who tells a mussel spirit tale. That night, Mingzhu is blood-mouthed; the next day, living things are blood-drained, and Jiang Chen is stuck in a conspiracy.
