Claire’s husband and son keep escaping through a miniature wasteland into a parallel apocalypse, where they treat another woman, Sloan, as their real family. After they drain Claire’s savings, abandon her during a miscarriage, and even take her blood to save Sloan, Claire finally destroys the portal. Cut off from their “other home,” the father and son spiral while Claire divorces them, rebuilds her career, and walks away for good.
