For thirteen years, Professor Ava Reed devoted everything to Leo Carter, the cat beastman she rescued from the black market alongside her cousin Chloe. She later learns the bitter truth: Leo resents her, for he has always loved Chloe and blames Ava for separating them. Crushed by heartbreak, Ava terminates their adoption bond and flees to the coastal city. Working as a university professor, she meets Finn Moore, a scar‑faced, homeless fox beastman broken by past trauma. Drawn to his wounded soul, Ava offers him shelter, and the two hurt souls begin to heal each other.
