On Christmas Day, to protect Olivia, Lucas abandoned his son Kay—who suffered from a congenital heart condition—and Winnie on a snowy, desolate road, leading to Kay’s fatal heart attack. Heartbroken, Winnie asked to break up, but Lucas remained oblivious, even stealing Winnie’s AI design—which she had named after their son—and gifting it to Olivia. On the day of their planned wedding, Winnie blocked Lucas and fled to Antarctica with Kay’s ashes. It was only when Lucas discovered the urn that he learned of the tragedy. He subsequently uncovered the truth about Olivia’s fake illness and her scheme of drugging Winnie five years prior; he drove Olivia away and exhausted all his resources to find Winnie. A year later, having started a new business under a new name, Winnie returned to the country for a collaboration, accompanied by her adopted daughter, Layla, and her partner, Adrian, only to have an unexpected reunion with Lucas, who had been waiting for her in despair.
