Lauren donated a kidney to save the child she shared with Milton Shaw, only to wake from surgery and be told their baby was gone. While drowning in grief, she overheard Milton talking to the doctor and discovered the truth. The entire surgery had been a lie. Her kidney had been given to the daughter of Milton’s former lover, Camryn, while their own child had been deliberately abandoned. Worse, Milton had secretly ordered Lauren to be sterilized without her knowledge or consent, all so Camryn’s daughter could enter the Shaw family without competition. What he didn’t know was that Camryn had gone even further behind his back. Faced with her husband’s betrayal, Camryn’s cruelty, and the Shaw family’s humiliation, Lauren didn’t make a scene. She gave herself seventy-two hours. In secret, she prepared the divorce papers, saved the evidence, cut off her bank ties, social accounts, address, and every authorization connected to Milton, erasing herself from his world piece by piece. By the time Milton finally received the divorce papers, Lauren was already on a plane out of the country. And this time, she wasn’t coming back.
