Luna Ella takes a silver bullet meant for her mate, Alpha Kyle. After death, she makes a wager with the Moon Goddess. She will return in the bodies of seven animals. If Kyle recognizes her soul every time, she can reclaim her human body. If he fails, her soul will dissolve into stardust. Each reunion pulls Kyle back from madness, but each new death drives his wolf closer to becoming permanently feral. As Ella returns as a raven, cockatoo, moth, black cat, silver fox, dolphin, and gray wolf, the trials expose a conspiracy behind her death. In the final trial, Kyle has lost his memories and fails to recognize her while she is alive. Only after her death does he follow the signs she left behind and call her name.
