My name is Aveline. I was recognized by everyone in the Dusktide Pack as their future Luna, yet for three whole years, Alpha Darian never gave me his mate mark. He claimed that my inner wolf had been severely damaged by silver poisoning, and my older sister, Celine, confirmed his words in her role as the pack healer. It wasn’t until the night of the Blood Moon that I discovered Darian had secretly marked Celine long ago. He had even allowed her to use wolfsbane to suppress my scent, my inner wolf, and my fertility. After losing my second pup, I stopped begging. I quit the medicine, gathered evidence, and reclaimed the coastal warriors my father had left behind. Then, while Darian accompanied Celine to the Full Moon Celebration, I disappeared completely. Without a mate bond connecting us, he had no way to find me. Three months later, I appeared at Celine’s Luna ceremony and exposed all the evidence, forcing them to tear apart each other’s lies. Celine was stripped of her healer status and banished from the pack. Darian fell to his knees and begged me to take him back. I only told him, “I didn’t leave because I was waiting for you to choose me again. I left because I finally chose myself.”
