Set in drought‑stricken Kansas amid the 1932 Great Depression, Margaret is cast out by her son and daughter‑in‑law. She takes shelter in a shabby hut with her two young daughters. By chance, she travels to the year 2026, sells antiques and brings vital supplies back to her own time. She fends off harassment and harm, heals her daughter’s leg injury, and helps townsfolk survive famine and sickness. Thwarting her son’s repeated schemes, she is elected mayor. Margaret locates new water sources, popularizes drought‑resistant farming methods, wins an agricultural award, and leads the town out of crisis.
