Frank Dawson was once a highly decorated U.S. Army commander. He stepped out of public life before the country could honor him, only to lose his son Mark in a counterterrorism operation years later. Now Frank and his granddaughter Emily are all each other has. When Greenwood High releases its SAT results, top student Emily suddenly lands at the bottom while Kate -- who barely studies -- posts the school's highest score. Emily asks for a review, but Kate's uncle William, a school-board member and district testing coordinator, claims the candidate IDs were entered wrong and the official score can't be changed. Emily keeps pushing, and they abduct her to shut her up. Frank takes hit after hit as he searches for Emily and the truth. Meanwhile, Kate beats, threatens, and illegally holds Emily. With every door closed in his face, Frank finally stops hiding his past. He puts his uniform and medals back on for one reason: to get justice for his granddaughter.
