Arwen Cobb transmigrates into a novel. Her husband fakes his death to live happily with his true love, leaving her to spend years supporting the entire family alone before she is eventually sent away into seclusion. When her "dead" husband returns with his mistress to reclaim the household, Arwen firmly divorces him and walks away.
