In 2042, people can sell unwanted memories for cash. When Jay, a technician at a memory recycling center, spots his own face in a batch of memories marked for destruction, he discovers that his life has already been sold off piece by piece—his wedding, his graduation, his father's funeral, even his ability to feel sadness. Together with his partner Mina, he investigates and uncovers the center's collusion with the black market to coerce people into selling their memories. After exposing the truth, Jay chooses to stop selling away who he is and begins rebuilding his identity through new memories.
